Meet Joshua Austin, DDS, MAGD, FACD

After attending San Antonio's Health Careers High School and the University of Texas San Antonio as an undergrad student, Dr. Austin graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School. UTHSCSA Dental School has been one of the top-ranked dental schools in the nation since 1993. There, Dr. Austin excelled and was voted president of his graduating class. He capped off a successful senior year by being awarded the Texas Dental Association Outstanding Senior Dental Student award.

Dr. Austin is a member of the prestigious Seattle Study Club, which is a network of professional dental study groups dedicated to ideal comprehensive dental care. Dr. Austin's other professional memberships include the Academy of General Dentistry, the Texas Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Rotary Club of San Antonio.

Dr. Austin is a published author and lectures nationally on restorative dentistry and reputation management. He has a monthly column and weekly e-newsletter in Dental Economics, the most-read dental magazine in the world. In the past, Dr. Austin has served as a faculty member in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at UTHSCSA Dental School. In 2009, the Texas Dental Association honored Dr. Austin by naming him Young Dentist of the Year. In 2010, the Texas Academy of General Dentistry named him New Dentist of the Year, the most prestigious award it gives for dentists who have graduated in the previous 7 years.

Dr. Austin has also earned a Fellowship and Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. To be named a Fellow in the Academy, one must pass an exhaustive written examination and complete over 500 hours of continuing education. To be named a Master, another 1200 hours of continuing education must be completed. Less than 2% of the general dentists in the United States have achieved Master status. In 2014, Dr. Austin was awarded with a Fellowship in the American College of Dentists for his outstanding commitment to ethics in patient care. Since 2014, Dr. Austin has been named a Super Dentist in Texas Monthly Magazine.

Dr. Austin is proud of his accomplishments, but his true joy is seeing patients lead healthier, happier lives after leaving his office. He looks forward to meeting you and bringing your smile to its fullest potential!

Get to Know

Meet Dr. Andrew Robbins, DDS

Dr. Robbins studied Biology at The University of Texas at Austin and worked in numerous dental practices and labs before pursuing a full time career in dentistry. He completed his dental education at The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, where he finished in the top of his class and graduated with a distinction in implant restorative dentistry. Dr. Robbins then completed his residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System in San Antonio. While in residency, Dr. Robbins honed his skills and gained proficiency in crowns and veneers, implant planning and placement, esthetic and functional crown lengthening, bone grafting and ridge augmentation, clear aligner orthodontic treatment, full mouth rehabilitation, root canal therapy, and intravenous sedation.

When Dr. Robbins isn’t in the office, you can find him on the golf course, at the movie theater, or competing in bar trivia.

Dr. Andrea Janik DDS, MAGD, FACD

Dr. Andrea Janik is proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2004. Texas A&M awarded her a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with magna cum laude honors, as well as her Foundation Honors and University Honors degrees. She then went on to attend dental School at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas where she was an active member of the American Student Dental Association and represented her school national as a delegate. She was also heavily involved in dental research and was a National Student Board Member for American Association of Dental Research and was named the American Dental Association Division of Science Externship.

After completing her doctor of dental surgery degree 2008, her education did not stop. Dr. Janik went on to complete her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry requiring 500 hours of education as well as a written exam. She also completed her Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry with an additional 1200 hours of education and hands on learning. The Seattle Study Club was foundational to the dental education she received. Dr. Janik also completed 120 hour Implant Preceptorship from UTHSCSA Dental School.

Being an active member in the dental community also played a role in shaping Dr. Janik as a dentist. She has held leadership positions in the Dallas County Dental Society, the San Antonio District Dental Society, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. She was honored to be invited to the American College of Dentists as well the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Janik has also been named a Super Dentist by Texas Monthly magazine for the past ten consecutive years.

In addition to her involvement in dentistry, she has also been a part of helping the community through the Junior League of Dallas and San Antonio.

After owning and operating Culebra Smiles and Orthodontics for the past 11 years in San Antonio, she has decided to come join her husband Dr. Joshua Austin in practice to not only be partner in dentistry, but to also be able to spend more time together. She looks forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals for your healthy smile.
